The recent article I read on CBC made me both outraged and intrigued. I worked for the past ten years in various size organizations and it still amazes me that why some executives get paid that much. But I think I know the answer now.
How can some CEOs earn that much money where my practical experience tells me that they don't do much -- if anything at all!
I think the answer is quite simple. Typically, large companies are run by a board of director, these are folks that have money. They want their money to be managed by someone who's 'expert' at what he/she does. There are a few experts and a lot of charlatans who demand a lot of money for what they have to offer.
Here is a Wikipedia article about Peter Principle which explains what's going on :)
